Americans for Native Americans

Carversville United Church of Christ is thrilled to be working with Americans for Native Americans (ANA), a Doylestown-based organization that since 1991 has provided services to indigenous people, especially children in the southwest United States. Their focus is to provide proper nutrition, medical screenings, and clothing to Native American school children who reside on local reservations.

Boarders benefit from staying overnight at the school because they receive dinner as well as breakfast and lunch with the daytime only students. Through generous donors, every student is given a bag of nutritious snacks to carry home on Fridays to help feed them until they return via school bus for breakfast at school on Monday morning.

Carversville United Church of Christ is presently working with Mariano Lake Community School in Crown Point, New Mexico. The school serves children from kindergarten through 6th grade. Approximately thirty percent of the students who attend Mariano Lake CS live in homes without running water or electricity. Between 2021 and 2022, we have provided more than 500 girls’ and boys’ briefs to meet that demand, and we anticipate purchasing more undergarments to re-stock ANA’s inventory here in Doylestown before the end of the year.

We look forward to bringing smiles to the faces of the kids at Mariano Lake this Christmas as we will be providing every child with a Christmas stocking containing school supplies, hygiene products, healthy snacks and of course, some toys! This school year, there are 16 students who live a distance from the school and who stay at the school as boarders during the week. In September, thanks to the generosity of our congregation, we created and shipped 18 hand sewn and knotted fleece blankets for use by boarders at the school.
We could not have made any of the work this year possible without support from the our church membership and the community. We have received overwhelming generosity from many beginning as early as June 2022.

If you are interested in supporting our church’s work with ANA, please consider a donation directed to our Missions at the church. Donations are accepted via mail or online by clicking on the “giving” tab in the upper right corner of this web site. Thank you for helping us to support this wonderful organization.
