The United Church of Christ fulfills its commitment to respond to a variety of global and domestic concerns by providing advocacy, sustainable development resources, long-term disaster recovery support, and assistance for refugees and asylum seekers, working in collaboration with our partners locally and globally. We do this through our giving program, One Great Hour of Sharing.
The One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) helps organizations around the world confront food insecurity and hunger. OGHS partners with others to provide immediate aid to those affected by disasters, poverty, or fleeing conflict—providing food, water, shelter, and companionship during times of distress.
OGHS gifts allow families to plant crops, produce fertilizers and receive the physical seeds they need for planting. Contributions to OGHS allow women and men to learn practices of irrigation and sustainable farming techniques. OGHS enables partners to teach about food and nutrition, hygiene, waste management and environmental protection. In addition, your financial gifts enable the building (and rebuilding) of structures and processes that make a difference for the future, providing education and helping hands for long-term improvements.
This year, the United Church of Christ is including the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to connect your giving to the global impacts highlighted in the goals. Our work together contributes to a global partnership committed to taking action to achieve the 17 SDGs — “a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future.”

hare the Love: One Great Hour of Sharing 2023Do you have a special animal companion who means the world to you? Animals bring so much love into our lives unconditionally. We’d love to meet your faithful friend – whether dog, cat, bird, fish, llama or more — all animals (and people!) are welcome at our annual blessing of the animals. We hold this special event each August in the grove just behind the church. Each animal is given an individual blessing by Pastor Fogal, and we often feature music from a local performer. We hope you’ll consider joining us for this special event.
Our famous and much-loved Oyster Pork Supper is back! Since 2020, when COVID-19 forced us to discontinue the event, we have heard many express a desire to see it return. This year is the year! Mark your calendar for Saturday, October 5th.
We are starting out small as our church gets back into the mode of putting on special events again. Sit down dining will be available from 3 PM-4 PM. Take-out dinners will be offered from 4 PM-6 PM. The menu consists of triple-dipped fried oysters, fresh roast pork, local creamed white corn, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, applesauce, and stewed tomatoes. Dinner price is $23.00 Please bring exact change if possible.
This is our largest fund-raiser of the year and has drawn people from both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Hope to see you there to help us carry on the tradition.
We know each other and care about each other.
